I'm trying to setup the Neo 2.0 with an HDFury Vrroom box. The Vrroom can take a single input and send it out 2 HDMI outputs. I don't want to run the HDMI signal through the Neo.
My TV (Sony A80J) reports in its EDID - SONY TV *30: 4K60 DV HDR10 HLG BT2020. It's sending out this signal - 4K59.940 593MHz 444 BT709 8b SDR .
Unfortunately, the Neo 2.0 reports in it's EDID that it is MACROSILICON: 4K24 . As a result, the Vrroom will not send the signal (4K24 (10.2 Gbps) versus 4K60 (18 Gbps)). I do not have anything connected to the Neo 2.0 HDMI output.
I thought Neo 2.0 was 4K60? What is the max frequency?
Overall, I am happy with the outcome of the situation essaysrescue.com/papernow-review/. The student paper writing service provided a valuable service, and I received an excellent grade for my essay. However, I also realize the importance of being more responsible in the future and not letting distractions get in the way of my academic success.
Thanks Jack, thats exactly what I am seeing. At this point I have connected the Neo 2.0 HDMI Out to another input on the TV.
Any chance the developers can change this to 4K/60 as the default in a software update?
When the output port of neo is connected to the TV, it will send the TV's EDID to the HDMI source device, and max is 4K60Hz. When the neo is not connected to the TV, it's 4K30Hz by default.
Hi.
Tell them
1) the splitter is a very intelligent one - HDFury VRROOM.
2) it supports 2 video outputs. It supports a splitter mode - Input goes untouched to both outputs. In this mode, it wont send video to Neo 2.0 since it reports 4K/24 and is less than the 4K/60 the TV reports.
It also supports a matrix mode - 1 input to any output with the second output downscaled to 1080p
3) I was afraid of that…
Here is more information for the IT guys.
With nothing plugged into HDMI out it presents the incorrect 4K/24.
If I plug the Neo 2.0 output to the TV, Neo 2.0 now presents the same EDID as the TV (4K/60) and works in splitter mode. VRROOM sends the same signal to both the TV and the Neo 2.0
I can run it 2 ways:
1) Splitter mode - keep Neo 2.0 plugged into an HDMI port on the TV. Works since Neo 2.0 passes the same/correct EDID.
2) Run matrix/downscale mode on VRROOM. TV gets full 4K signal, but Neo 2.0 gets a downscaled 1080p version. I believe this causes issues in HDR/DV Mode
For now, I will use #1 and keep the cable from NEO 2.0 to the TV.
I would prefer not to use another TV HDMI input and cable. So, ask the IT guys is there some way to “pretend” a 4K/60 is plurged into Neo 2.0 output and pass this “fake” 4K/60 EDID out Neo 2.0’s HDMI’s input?
Thanks Jack. If they need a beta tester, let them know Im available
Cheers
Jack, I have more information that might help.
In my case, I am just sending the video to the Neo 2.0 from an HDFury device that acts as a splitter.
So, I don’t have anything plugged into the Neo 2.0 HDMI out.
If I do plug and HDMI cable from the Neo 2.0 out to another input on my Sony TV, it passes the EDID it gets from the TV (Neo 2.0 HDMI output) back to the Neo 2.0 input. Makes sense.
So, the problem is with nothing plugged into the Neo 2.0 HDMI out, it sends a default EDID with 4K/24. If you can have the engineers change the default to 4K/60 I believe things will work better.
Hi Jack, thanks for responding. Basically the Neo 2.0 presents an EDID to the HDMI input that says it only supports up to 4K/24 not 4K/60
It should present an EDID with 4K/60.
Since it tells the connected device it’s only 4K/24, I need to send it a lower frequency…
Yes, the Neo2.0 is 4K 60, what do you mean the max frequency, sorry for this asking, but what you have stated is too technical to comprehend though I never stop learning. Sorry for this, but it will be much appreciated if you can explain a little bit. Thanks.
