Hi Guys, what’s up, this is Jack. Here is the Lytmi(Light Mi) weekly update.
It had been a hard week, or probably the hardest week till now. We got lots of negative feedback from our dear customers, which are bad things for sure. Yet, every coin has two sides. If we try to look at the positive side, then we are so grateful for that we are allowed the opportunities to better our products. Thanks for all those.
1. First, though we have done test prior mass production and shipment, we still got the feedback that the Dolby Vision of Neo can't be used directly. However if you connect it via a soundbar or AVR or something, it just works perfect. It's such a shame, and we do feel so sorry about that. And we are working on that, so the probability is the future version shall not have the problem. For those already purchased, there are two options: take the free splitter (which can be used to pass-through the Dolby Vision signal but never castrate the input resource quality) and lifetime 15% discount code as compensation solution or just return and refund. And your understanding will be much appreciated, though we never take if for granted as what is done is done.
2. Second, we got another major feedback regarding HDR, saying the light strips under HDR mode is so light that barely has any ambilight effect. Again, we are sorry about that. And again, that solves nothing. So we have retested and researched (refers to https://github.com/awawa-dev/HyperHDR) and come out this version.

And there is the probability that it depends on whom are going to judge it sometimes. For some, this maybe a problem, some maybe not, which also applies to the latency issue. Anyway, we treated every feedback seriously and tried our best to find a solution to it.
3. Third, we got feedback that for the 65'' , the lights seem shorter (6cm shorter to be exact), which is true. That again, is a huge pity and is never supposed to happen. Again, it just happened, we do apologize for this. And the solution for this is, you are strongly recommended to intract or indent inwardly the lights when installing them and it should solve the problem. And again, if it's still unacceptable for you, we totally understand, and you have every rights to initiate a return and refund. There is no hard feelings.
To sum up, this is great week, this is a bad week. But we are happy to have you guys, whether you're complaining to us about the products or simply offer us some suggestions, at least we have your attention and you care us, that's what matters, thanks.
Wait, so, these things cannot be patched with a firmware update? So what should we PS5 and Xbox Series X users that have no or pale colours in HDR do? 🤔
Hi matty, we do have tested with PS 5 and XBOX series x, and it works but the effects are not as vibrant as SDR mode as the HDR itself is kind of brighter, so the neo will read that brightness and manifest it via the lights.
Oke, is there no way to implement the SDR Mode Vibrant to the HDR Mode? I mean a lot of Colors doesen't match up to the Display
Yea sorry but issue #2 is just not acceptable for me. I've tested the same movie in HDR and non-HDR, and where non-HDR red = red, in HDR the same scene its just barely orange. I've already requested to return this product. Next time please spend more time testing it.
Hi sorry for those, thanks for the suggestions, we will definitely spend more time testing it before launching.
Hi Jack
#2 thats the only Problem i got with the Neo 2.0, the Colors a to Weak 🥲.
Is this a Hardware or Software Problem?
I love the SDR Colors but i Want HDR with the Same Colors.
Hi Jack,
I've received my neo 2.0 with the stripes yesterday. First, the premise is just great and I have waited long enough for an easy plug and play solution like that.
I'm experiencing the issues you've explained.
Besides the delay the transitions between color or brightness state changes aren't smooth. You can see the steps when color or brightness changes. This is really distracting.
What is the refresh rate for the color signal?
Additionally ARC is not working.
Thanks,
Marc
Hi Marc, it's so sorry to see you're experiencing those as well. I got all those down and reported to the IT. The max refresh rate is 4K60.
I've just emailed Lytmi support to ask them if these issues can be fixed via an update patch or not. I'll post back here once they reply. If not i'll be starting the returns process. as i'm not paying for a box of defects that doesn't work as advertised.
Hi Matty, appreciate your insights. Please keep us posted. Kr, Kevin
How do you initiate refund? Same problem with HDR and the lack of eARC support annoys me too. I would rather wait until 2.1 comes out and is tested better than this was.
Concept is great, product is made with good materials, but the firmware application fails to deliver?
Hi for refund, please contact support@light-mi.com, sorry to hear that you have unpleasant shopping experience. And for HDR, as HDR is kind of brighter so when neo read and process the signal, it will take it into consideration, so the effects maybe not as vibrant as SDR mode, as this is the inherent feature of HDR so we are still working on it to find better solution. For eARC, it's a feature of HDMI 2.1, so this is something 2.0 can't do about it.
Ok, guys. I've finally heard back from the Lytmi team via email. They are basically trying to scam me out of my money. When asking about the returns process they told me that they cannot accept the product back as it has been installed and cut to fit my TV and that they would need everything back in its original packaging (This includes the sticky brackets that we have stuck to the back of our TVs) After looking at their returns process alarm bells rang so that's why I emailed them to clarify. The law states that if a product is faulty, which these clearly are and we have Jack from Lytmi here admitting to a list of problems with the device, plus video and picture evidence from Lytmi customers showing all the faults, or if a product is not as described, that is grounds for a refund no matter whether the product has been installed and used or not. They tried to tell me I basically have to keep the item and deal with it or take a 20% refund. I will give them one last chance to rectify this before taking legal action under The Consumer Rights Act 2015.
