Hi Guys, what’s up, this is Jack. Here is the Lytmi(Light Mi) weekly update.
It had been a hard week, or probably the hardest week till now. We got lots of negative feedback from our dear customers, which are bad things for sure. Yet, every coin has two sides. If we try to look at the positive side, then we are so grateful for that we are allowed the opportunities to better our products. Thanks for all those.
1. First, though we have done test prior mass production and shipment, we still got the feedback that the Dolby Vision of Neo can't be used directly. However if you connect it via a soundbar or AVR or something, it just works perfect. It's such a shame, and we do feel so sorry about that. And we are working on that, so the probability is the future version shall not have the problem. For those already purchased, there are two options: take the free splitter (which can be used to pass-through the Dolby Vision signal but never castrate the input resource quality) and lifetime 15% discount code as compensation solution or just return and refund. And your understanding will be much appreciated, though we never take if for granted as what is done is done.
2. Second, we got another major feedback regarding HDR, saying the light strips under HDR mode is so light that barely has any ambilight effect. Again, we are sorry about that. And again, that solves nothing. So we have retested and researched (refers to https://github.com/awawa-dev/HyperHDR) and come out this version.

And there is the probability that it depends on whom are going to judge it sometimes. For some, this maybe a problem, some maybe not, which also applies to the latency issue. Anyway, we treated every feedback seriously and tried our best to find a solution to it.
3. Third, we got feedback that for the 65'' , the lights seem shorter (6cm shorter to be exact), which is true. That again, is a huge pity and is never supposed to happen. Again, it just happened, we do apologize for this. And the solution for this is, you are strongly recommended to intract or indent inwardly the lights when installing them and it should solve the problem. And again, if it's still unacceptable for you, we totally understand, and you have every rights to initiate a return and refund. There is no hard feelings.
To sum up, this is great week, this is a bad week. But we are happy to have you guys, whether you're complaining to us about the products or simply offer us some suggestions, at least we have your attention and you care us, that's what matters, thanks.
Also the lights I received were about 5 inches short on my lg C1 65"
Requested a splitter for Dolby issue. I never received a response. It's been a couple of weeks.
Just set up my Neo Sync Box.
Worked perfectly for 10mins but then the light strips go out...
music mode still works but screen mode just stays off. Anyone else having such issues?
Are the splitters going to take just as long to deliver as the neo Took? So now essentially sitting another month with a brand new $200+ Product that doesn’t work right out of the box. So very disappointing and not to mention having to dumb my picture resolution down to 1080p just to hear audio. Unacceptable. And a lifetime 15%, does that include a 15% refund (should be more) on this order of the 2.0 with all things considered? I also dont trust an overseas return going through foreign customs. Sounds like it’ll “miraculously get lost by customs” which is just prime opportunity for Lytmi and another way to screw the customer. Seen it happen way to many times.
does the HDR wash out issue affect PC Light Strips? I just ordered one. hope it works well.
You've mentioned a free splitter to get this working. How do I get this free spliter?
Apart from the problems already mentioned, with white backgrounds the lights tend to be light blue and yellow is interpreted as light green, are you going to solve this? (SDR content)
Jack,
While I understand the above frustration, this product has great potential, and a fraction of the cost of Hue. Great job, just some hard work on the backend needed. While there are many issues you guys are working on, there are two questions I have, one of which has been asked above, but was not answered.
Is the NEO 2.0 firmware updateable via wifi? Are the issues above fixable via firmware update, or are they hardware related?
In the App, there are several areas which the pages load in all Chinese text, including when first creating an account in the app, the map addresses are in Chinese, and the "Check for Firmware Update" page.
Two recommendations for the app are as follows:
When selecting "Color" at the bottom, it comes up with an error "The current mode does not support daylighting adjustment". I don't know that means in english, so a better message would be something like "The current mode does not support Color selection. Please select different mode from "Taste", thought I don't know what Taste is either, it should be titled "Effects" or something like that. Just my opinion.
When changing from Celsius to Fahrenheit, it does not save, and stays in C.
When first setting up my "Home" it wouldn't allow me to type in "Basement" as an option. I just tried again and it worked, but just a little quirk to look into.
Thank you,
Steve
All the same issues here plus random crazy non-stop flickering regardless of the sd/4k/dv content being played. Restarting helps for 1 to 5 min and it starts again. It renders it unusable.
This really needs to be addressed!
Lytmiup That was a perfect summary of every known issue and what is going on. To add one I am also getting crashes from the Neo box it keeps passing the HDMI signal through but the lights stop syncing until the Neo is rebooted.
I am having the below issues.
HDR is just as washed out as it was on the 1 Gen Neo.
DV doesn't work it. Using Dennon receiver to Neo to TV. Jack said only direct connections were seeing DV issues he doesn't know anything or is lying.
Arc and eArc are both not working when the Neo is passing signals.
The LED strips with the kits are cut too small I have the large kit for my 77" TV but there is no way it fits a 90" TV. Also, the lights have different casing on the reviews than what was sent the reviewed ones look like Hue and the ones sent are see-through.
I get a lot of flickering from the lights even when there is no action on the screen.
The Neo 2.0 fails every 20 min and passes the HDMI signal but the lights stop working until a power cycle.
What a mess. The lack of testing for the neo box, unsupported dolby vision, poor HDR colours, no auto fill for 4:3 black bars and the 65" strips being too short, among other issues...
This isn't just a lack of testing, this is straight up negligence and false advertising.
The Lytmi team haven't even given reasons for such oversights. Just "sorries".
Now customers are sharing issues about the refund Lytmi offered as being conditional on the system being unused (that includes the light strips and brackets). Obviously anyone who has bought this system and discovered such issues with it have obviously "voided" these return requirements. This is nonsense.
The whole situation leads me to believe Lytmi were fully aware of the issues and just chanced their luck that people wouldn't notice or care.
Even the light strip itself looks very different to the advertised images and reviews on YouTube.
This could be argued as a superficial discrepancy but it still shows a lack of professionalism from the company.
Lytmi stated via email - "Our R&D department believes that the matte surface cover will affect the lighting, and it is easy to lead the wrong cutting. So we have upgraded the light strips to make it more visual."
If so, then update the images being used. (They won't because they know the strips look cooler in the white tubing and will encourage more sales).
The only real solution to all these issues should be offering free upgrades of the Neo Box when the 2.1 version is created to ALL who purchased the 2.0 version. (The light strips from 2.0 in theory should still be compatible with a new 2.1 version).
The current quick fix of splitters and patheticly low discount for future products is insulting and unjust.
Why would any one want to purchase from this company again to use such a (low) discount after all these headaches?
Lytmi deserve to have this backlash due to clearly rushing and cutting corners with the 2.0 version. They owe it to customers to not only provide the system they advertised but some form of extra as an apology.
Customers are not test groups. They're not Guinea pigs. We should not have to pay our own money for this company to understand teething issues with their product.
Again I'll state the only real solution:
Free upgrades of future neo boxes to everyone who purchased the faulty and false advertised 2.0 version.
We're having the same problems with HDR, the colours are virtually none existent and nothing like the promo material. 😒
How do you initiate refund? Same problem with HDR and the lack of eARC support annoys me too. I would rather wait until 2.1 comes out and is tested better than this was.
Concept is great, product is made with good materials, but the firmware application fails to deliver?
Hi Matty, appreciate your insights. Please keep us posted. Kr, Kevin
I've just emailed Lytmi support to ask them if these issues can be fixed via an update patch or not. I'll post back here once they reply. If not i'll be starting the returns process. as i'm not paying for a box of defects that doesn't work as advertised.
Hi Jack,
I've received my neo 2.0 with the stripes yesterday. First, the premise is just great and I have waited long enough for an easy plug and play solution like that.
I'm experiencing the issues you've explained.
Besides the delay the transitions between color or brightness state changes aren't smooth. You can see the steps when color or brightness changes. This is really distracting.
What is the refresh rate for the color signal?
Additionally ARC is not working.
Thanks,
Marc
Hi Jack
#2 thats the only Problem i got with the Neo 2.0, the Colors a to Weak 🥲.
Is this a Hardware or Software Problem?
I love the SDR Colors but i Want HDR with the Same Colors.
Yea sorry but issue #2 is just not acceptable for me. I've tested the same movie in HDR and non-HDR, and where non-HDR red = red, in HDR the same scene its just barely orange. I've already requested to return this product. Next time please spend more time testing it.
Wait, so, these things cannot be patched with a firmware update? So what should we PS5 and Xbox Series X users that have no or pale colours in HDR do? 🤔
